    Notes to Editors
Essential Edinburgh is Edinburgh’s largest and Scotland’s second largest Business Improvement District (BID). A BID is a defined area where businesses vote to invest collectively in local improvements. A BID is not a substitute for central or local government investment, but an additional investment by private business to strengthen the local economy and give local businesses a unified voice.
Essential Edinburgh’s BID term lasts for five years; through the BID levy BID businesses will have collectively invested £5m in the city centre by the end of this second BID term. The renewal ballot for Essential Edinburgh’s third term will begin in April 2018 with the result announced at the end of May 2018.
Essential Edinburgh have launched www.edinevents.com which will list all five key events that Essential Edinburgh deliver annually (Edinburgh Fashion Week, Spa in the City, Film in the City, Farm to Fork, Edinburgh Restaurant Festival) alongside other key events within the city centre. SCOT STREET STYLE’S BLIND PIG PARTY @ THE BISCUIT FACTORY

Scot Street Style and Blind Pig Cider have teamed up to create a bespoke evening to delight the senses. Inviting a group of people they really like, amongst them are Edinburgh based artists and press. The night has been baptized: Vintage with a Modern Twist.

Blind Pig drinks will be created by mixologists into the perfect serve of three flavours of your choice: Bourbon & Blueberry, Whiskey, Honey & Apple and Rum & Poached Pear.

Gordon Millar, Creative Director of Scot Street Style, said “we’re delighted to partner with Blind Pig Cider and put on our first themed event together. We’ve created an evening of Vintage with a Modern Twist in Edinburgh’s most organic venue with brilliantly creative individuals who will make the night incredibly special.”

With tunes from Gramophone DJ Lord Holyrude – the infamous deck master – armed with his gramophone turn tables, he will be taking to the stage playing all the hits from the 1920s through to the 1950s.

Gordon continued, “Attendees will enjoy watching DJ Lord Holyrude as he is both baffling and astounding, particularly when he changes the needles of the gramophone every time he swaps his records.” https://www.facebook.com/lordholyrudegramophonedj/

Guests will get a sneak peak of archive and brand new pieces from the legends at Stewart Christie who’s goal is to look after our fashion heritage rather than behind a glass case gathering dust and bring a modern twist to these vintage pieces with new designs. The Tailoring Firm of Stewart Christie, established in 1720, will have their new collection ready for viewing in the Spring of 2016. https://vimeo.com/143126786

As if that weren’t enough, KellyDawn Riot, local award winning fashion designer supported by the Love Your Clothes campaign and Zero Waste Scotland will be at the event. Taking inspiration from naturalist illustrators and forward thinking icons of times gone by, Kelly Dawn Riots brand embodies a unique aesthetic that invokes a sense of the ephemeral and wonder. Unique pieces are made using remnants from local Scottish mills or natural fabrics making them strong and durable, while the eco friendly printing techniques and the attention to detail ensure that each piece is a treasure: inspired by nature, designed for life.

Models will be wearing Kelly Dawn Riot pieces throughout the evening…http://www.kellydawnriot.com/#!about/c10fk

    ABOUT BLIND PIG

Blind Pig is a brand new range of premium ciders blended with fruit and spirit flavours to produce a unique new taste sensation. This top-notch new range includes: Bourbon & Blueberry; Rum & Poached Pear; and Whiskey, Honey & Apple.  Now, you could be forgiven for thinking cider-season is coming to a close as we say “see you later” to summer. Well, it’s time to bid farewell to everything you came to expect from a cider too. Forget fruity concoctions and endless lazy sunny afternoons – say hello to a cider to accompany evenings after dark, just when the party is about to start. It’s a totally new way to drink cider.

“Why Blind Pig?” we hear you ask. Good question – we’ve got a good answer too. Cast your mind back to everything you’ve heard about 1920s America when speakeasies abounded. These establishments were known as Blind Pigs, on account of the nature of the “entertainment” they provided.  Speaking of bottles – look closer, there’s more there than meets the eye, whether that be on the bottle caps or mysterious numbers around the base, it’s an invitation for people to explore.  Uncover a world of hidden secrets. http://www.blindpigcider.co.uk/
